This reversible "saddle," also known as an "apron," protects your birds from feather loss and injury. It is made of denim and cotton.
Why? Why? Why?....this is the question I often get.
A rooster's claws and spurs can often pull out or break the feathers on the backs of the hens during mating. Once her feathers are gone, the skin becomes painful and red. The rooster can actually puncture the skin! Any one who owns chickens will tell you the other hens can and will pick at injured hens causing further injury and even death. The saddle will help prevent this damage and/or allow the chicken to heal and regrow feathers if they already have some damage.

****If you are not sure what size you need, measure your bird from the neck to the tail glands (just above the tail. This is listed as the neck to gland length.****

Small: 5 1/4" Great for Bantams
Medium: 7" Small to Medium Chickens, (This also works great for pheasants if you take 2 inches off the elastic.)
Large: 9 1/4" Medium to Large Chickens
X-Large: 12 1/2" Turkey and Extra Large Chicken
